Networking Mistakes in Your Business and What You Can Do

No person with an inkling about business can deny the power of networking and what it can accomplish. What's so great about this social approach is it's entirely up to you, and you can make it as extensive as you please. This is really nothing new at all, and you have some knowledge of networking, most likely. But those who have businesses that can gain value from networking know if it's for them. What if they talk to you, and then ask you a question you can't answer because you were not listening? But if you mess up a good conversation then you can kiss it all goodbye because that person will remember it. Why you wouldn't want to listen to someone is beyond me because you're there in the first place for networking. If you are totally just getting involved in IM for the first time, then just know that a ton has been written about Facebook marketing over the years. One of the most destructive things you could ever do in your business is restrict your self when it comes to new ways to promote or market.

See if you can work out a way to just perform an experiment with a method or two, and be sure you track your results. If you do not have the funds to buy courses and ebooks, then one solution is to join marketing and online business forums and do some background reading. Using any method for the first time is filled with trepidation, but that will go away soon enough with experience.

But of course you do not want to upset any of your other marketing efforts, either. Mining people you don't know for the people they know is a mistake because it's one thing to be nice to a receptionist when you do cold calling. This is common sense that it's not a successful approach to doing anything, and in time you'll stop if you even try it. Word does get around about stupid things like this, and your name will be at the top of the list and you can kiss your networking goodbye. But, you never know because you can try this and get first hand experience with total and complete rejection.

Unless you are not aware of how to be polite, then use what you know when networking with someone new. If the person agrees to meet you, then that is fine and you can talk. But do not launch into your sales presentation because that usually doesn't work well. You know what this is about or you should know. Build a rapport with this person, and that will help create a stronger bridge between the two of you. Even if you make mistakes in the meeting, they'll be the kind you won't repeat. Being competent with networking does not have to be complicated, and when you see what's involved you'll see that it's easy. You'll make smaller mistakes here and there, but they won't be as costly as the larger ones. Also, remember that you don't want just any business, you want those that complement yours in the best way.
